I recently caught up with the crew at the Whitsunday Moto Sports Club outside Proserpine today to check on progress of their plans to install lights to enable night-time events.
Whitsunday Moto Sports Club will receive a Community Development Grant of $480,000 to light up their venue which will open up opportunities for the club to host night racing for members with karts and motorbikes, which we all know is a much better option during the heat of summer here in the tropics.
There are many families who participate in karting in particular, and battling heat and sun exposure poses greater risks for everyone.
The club also conducts driver training as well as a range of moto sport competitions and events.
The club hopes to get started on their ‘Light Us Up’ project next month and I commend them on working to reduce the risks of daytime competition and provide a much more enjoyable experience for all involved.
